What is News2mail
news2mail.com is a free service, that provides access to usenet newsgroups via e-Mail.
In addition the site lists other possibilities to access newsgroups and gives quick search possibilities to find the right group for your area of interest.
Who should subscribe to news2mail.com?
When I programmed news2mail.com I wanted to provide usenet-access for people who do have an e-Mail but not cannot access to newsservers. This might be because of various reasons:
- You are not allowed to install a Newsreader. As it is the case on many company-PCs
- You do not know how to configure your Newssever. By the way, if you only need to know a newsserver you can find one the lst of free Newsservers or the lst of commercial Newsservers
- You sit behind a firewall that does not permit usenet-access
- You want to follow a newsgroup and don't want to check your newsreader regularely.
In the meantime I added the service to access messages as daily summaries. THis makes it even a useful service for people who have usenet access. This format is especially useful, if you want to put the messages on your Palm-Pilot for offline reading in the train.
What else is provided on the Website?
For each group you will find the most popular subjects and you find reference to other groups, that are related. The relation is identified by messages, that appear in both groups.
This enables you to find the right group for the topics, that you are interested in.
For each group we list free and commercial newsservers and the number of messages per day, that you have to expect for this group.
